The following guidelines regarding the rights and obligations of patients have been established and are observed to ensure satisfaction of all patients receiving medical care at the hospital.

1. The Right to Be Treated
The patient has the right to receive appropriate healthcare services for the protection and promotion of their health, which shall not be violated due to reasons related to gender, age, religion, status and/or financial circumstances. Healthcare provider shall not refuse to give medical care without justifiable reason.
2. The Right to Be Informed and to Make an Autonomous Decision
The patient has the right to receive complete information regarding his/her state of health or progress of the disease, treatment methods, eligibility for participation in a medical research, eligibility for organ transplant and/or donation, expected outcome such as side effects and medical costs from an attending doctor and nurses. He/She also has the right to ask questions, decide which procedures to consent to or to refuse in the course of using such services, and to stop or refuse a particular course of care within the limitations prescribed in Medical Ethics Guidelines of Catholic Medical Center.
3. The Right to Be Kept in Secrecy
The patient has the right to be protected with confidentiality regarding his/her physical and health status related to the healthcare received as well as his/her personal life, and such information shall not be disclosed or announced by the hospital, except in the cases prescribed by law such as criminal investigation or with the consent of the patient.
4. The Right to Make Suggestion and Request Consultation and/or Mediation
The patient has the right to voice his/her opinions on matters that need to be improved by the Hospital. In case of a dispute regarding the medical service provided, he/she may file a request to the Korea Medical Dispute Mediation and Arbitration Agency for consultation and mediation.
5. The Right to Receive Proper Medical Care in a Safe Environment
The patient has the right to receive medical care in a safe environment where the patient’s health information and safety is secured.
6. The Right to Be Respected
The patient has the right to have his/her requests made based on his/her values, ideals and religion respected by the Hospital.

1. Obligation to Trust and Respect the Healthcare Provider
The patient must provide accurate information regarding his/her health to the healthcare provider, and respect and trust the course of treatment planned by the healthcare provider. He/She must take full responsibility for any outcomes resulting from incompliance with the treatment plan.
2. Obligation to Not Receive Medical Care by Fraudulent Means
The patient must disclose his/her identity prior to receiving medical care, and shall not receive medical care by a deceitful or fraudulent means such as in the name of another individual.
3. Obligation to Observe the Hospital Regulations
The patient must observe the hospital regulations, respect the hospital staff and other patients, and fulfill the financial obligations to the Hospital.
